SOME TIPS FOR BIRD PHOTOGRAPHY:

Best time of the day is early morning and the 2 - 3 hours before birds roost. They are busy searching for food.

Sometimes leave the binoculars at home; they can get in the way

Check your camera before you leave the house; take a few images to ensure all is ok with your gear.
